NONG BUA LAMPHU: A male, 57, shot dead three individuals in Sri Bun Ruang region of this northern territory on Wednesday night.
The shooting started at home number 236 in Ban Takhian Thong settlement at 6am, according to Sri Bun Ruang area commander Petai Jonkratok’s statement to the Nong Bua Lam Phu governor.
There the assailant killed Preecha Piamai, 54, and his daughter Wachinee Piamai, 28. The girl eventually succumbed to her wounds at Sri Bun Ruang Hospital after the father was immediately killed.
The gunman therefore rode his bicycle to Ban Fai Hin town, where he met the next target, Thaworn Waetthaisong, 68. At the Ban Fai Hin intersection in Tambon Non Muang, Thaworn was fatally shot.
At 6:30 am, the gunman was seen on surveillance video sweeping the other side of the road as he approached the third victim, dressed in black.
The shooter crossed the road while waiting for a tractor to pass him before pulling a pistol out of his jacket pocket.
The shooter approached the victim and fired a point-blank at him from close range.
The shooter then returned to the victim after he fell to the ground and fired more shots.
The woman sat on a bench by the nearby road before he fled. Having heard the gunshots, she ran for her life and managed to escape.
According to local officials, the suspect was identified as a Mr Samart. On a blue motorcycle, he fled the scene and headed for the districts of Na Klang and Muang.  ,
At 10.29am, the Royal Thai Police Office stated on its Facebook page that they were attempting to stop the “deranged man” and would like to know where he was.
Checkpoints were set up in the area, according to the district chief.
