Authorities are looking into priests ‘ oversight of two Buddhist-related locations in Phichit, a state in which 73 corpses were kept secret without permission.
41 animal bodies were discovered last week at the Pa Nakhon Chaibovorn abbey in tambon Ban Noi in the Pho Thale area.
Additional 32 bodies were discovered on Monday at Wat Pa Sivilai in the Bang Mun Nak district’s tambon Noen Makok.
Authorities interrogated Phra Ajarn Saifon Pannathito, commander of Pa Nakhon Chaibovorn convent. The priest had previously stayed at Wat Pa Sivilai and had afterwards had his fans watch over the church.
Thongchai Khimmakthong, the district’s head of Bang Mun Nak, reported to the authorities that the bodies were used in both locations as yoga tools.
Both locations ‘ materials housed the body, with the latter one buried beneath them. Wat Pa Sivilai’s abbot informed authorities that the majority of the bodies were soon followers and their relatives, and that the authorities had given permission for the monks to maintain their bodies there.
According to Mr. Thongchai, authorities would check whether the presence of human remains both places were in violation of the law governing tombs and crematoriums.
Officials from the area were examining the body to determine their identities. They briefly closed both places pending investigation. At Pa Nakhon Chaibovorn convent, there is also a great cave of around 600 turtles.
Rueangdet Soikham, commander of Pho Thale area, said officials concerned may find out if there was any crime at the Buddhist areas.
