On Monday, the government assured the Thai and Cambodian governments that the memorandum of understanding on mutual growth in the Gulf of Thailand would hardly cause widespread protests.

Sondhi Limthongkul, a former president of the yellow-shirt movement and media stooge, threatened to hold ordinary events following season, which some observers had warned could turn into bulk demonstrations against the Pheu Thai-led government.

Mr. Sondhi, the former leader of the now-defunct People’s Alliance for Democracy ( PAD), criticised Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra for her lack of knowledge at a forum held on Sunday at Thammasat University’s Tha Prachan campus. He also alleged that the government had broken the law.

Mr. Sondhi suggested holding a regular consumer forum starting in the new year as a good time to educate people. His statements threatened to overthrow the Paetongtarn state, according to those who read them.

On Monday, deputy prime minister Phumtham Wechayachai said Mr. Sondhi has the legal right to organize gatherings and cast off the possibility of street protests.

He emphasized that there are already programmes in place to control the state and that it is set to be subject to scrutiny.

The original Sheet head was even urged by Mr. Phumtham, the defense secretary, and a Pheu Thai Party heavyweight, to consider the potential effects of street protests on the economy.

The continuous street protests to remove previous administrations, which prompted authorities to shut some areas, caused extensive damage to the land, he argued, referring to PAD protests, which shut down the state’s airports for more than a year.

The deputy prime minister responded to a question about Mr. Sondhi’s prepared weekly meetings, saying that despite Mr. Sondhi leading the widespread protests in 2006 that led to the resignation of the Thaksin administration, he was unconcerned.

Anutin Charnvirakul, the interior minister, said Mr. Sondhi is free to exercise his constitutional straight in accordance with Mr. Phumtham’s statement.

But, Mr Anutin, head of the Bhumjaithai Party, denied any internal battle between his group and the Pheu Thai Party in the midst of the Khao Kradong area discussion.

He said the coalition parties are working in cohesion and work under the prime minister’s directions.

In a press interview, Mr Sondhi, 77, said that it is undecided if he would direct a city protest against the Paetongtarn state. He said he did not want to, but he would do it if required.

He claimed, however, that despite being close to that point, the political climate is not serious enough to deal with such a drastic measure.

Panthep Phuaphongphan, a former Sheet head, said the Nov 24 conference was a check of people’s preparation and designed to reinvigorate the PAD supporters. He resolutely said there are n’t any planned gatherings at this point.

Thaksin was detained at the Police General Hospital, according to Mr. Panthep, who claimed the general public was unaware of his condition. Additionally, they had reservations about the government’s plans to negotiate with Cambodia regarding the distribution of natural solutions in the Gulf of Thailand under the MoU of 2001.

He emphasized that Ms. Paetongtarn may receive a petition from Mr. Sondhi the following year. ” But whether or not people will meet him, it is kept as a surprise]by Mr Sondhi]”, he added.
