Imran Khan: Thousands of ex-PM’s supporters head to Islamabad

Lahore, Pakistan’s cash, is a second-day lockdown as thousands of protesters converge on the city to demand Imran Khan’s release.

The government is reportedly contesting his supporters ‘ claims that the election results were manipulated.

Despite having legal issues and having his supporters protesting for weeks, the former prime minister has been in police custody for more than a year on several charges. He continues to be incredibly popular despite this.

His wife, Bushra Bibi, stated to the crowds on Monday that the march may continue until her father was released.

Following Khan’s “final phone,” Khan called on supporters to remain in the cash until their demands are met.

His followers and the officers have engaged in verbal altercation. The rally has been prohibited by the authorities, which has temporarily halted some online services and imposed a shipping container ban on the streets.

Due to concerns about crime, schools and colleges have closed.

Members of Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI ) party say they’ve been repeatedly tear gassed by the police.

The police claim that protesters ‘ rocks caused injuries to their soldiers. 14 officers were hurt and 139 individuals had been detained, according to police reports to the BBC.

One of the main caravan officials is Khan’s family Bushra Bibi.

As the protest approached the investment earlier on Monday, she declared,” We will not end this march until Khan comes to us.”

You must aid me as I wait until my last breath. She said that this is also true for the nation and its leader, not only my husband.

Bushra Bibi and Khan were both sentenced in January, but they were released on bail in late October.

Khan is still the main army in Pakistan’s opposition politicians despite spending more than a year in jail.

In 2022, he was reportedly unhappy with the government’s potent military after being removed from power by parliament.

He denies all of the allegations leveled at him, including allegations of corruption, crime, and illegal marriage to Bushra Bibi.

In February’s standard vote, his party was banned from standing. The PTI-backed independent candidates unavoidably won the majority of the tickets but not enough to form a state.

Khan claimed that Khan had snagged the vote from the PML-N and PPP, the two currently in power. The election tampering allegations are denied by the government.
