According to the officers, the suspect allegedly demanded payment from the CEO of Icon and also allegedly pocketed some of the recovered money.
A person has been detained on suspicion of extorting payments from direct sales company executives. She is the head of an organization that was assisting The logo Group’s victims in recovering funds.
Following the Criminal Court’s request, Kritanong Suwannawong was taken to the police Crime Suppression Division ( CSD ) for questioning and was later taken to her home in Pathum Thani.
Ms Kritanong, 47, is a senior of the direct-sales company who in recent years has campaigned to introduce dodgy users and help their patients. She currently serves as the head of the Online Network Promotion Coordination Center, which handled 89 iCon-related situations involving payment totaling about 10 million baht. According to the policeman, she also allegedly collected 20 % of that amount.
She has been accused of bribery and acting as a liaison between logo CEO Warathaphon” Boss Paul” Waratyaworrakul and some other professionals who are currently detained in jail on suspicion of operating a pyramid structure.
The CSD research superintendent, Pol Col Mingmontree Siripong, provided the evidence gathered from the interviews of Mr. Warathaphon and Panjarat Kanokrakthanaphorn regarding Ms. Kritanong’s needs for money to assist them in their cases.
Ms. Kritanong is the party’s head, Suvarnabhumi Party, which was founded on April 2, 2023, and worked in the image Group scandal as a journalist. Yet, she is alleged to have helped some patients receive unlawful payments, while also working with the bank’s Director to tone down the incident.
Her arrest came after Withoon Kengngan, the attorney for the imprisoned suspects, gave authorities a voice recording claiming to be of Ms Kritanong demanding 750, 000 baht from Mr Warathaphon.
According to the police, Mr. Warathaphon allegedly transferred 450, 000 baht to Ms. Kritanong’s account before eventually handing over another 300, 000 baht in separate amounts to stop one victim from bringing in more complaints.
