According to IndustriALL, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development ( OECD ) guidelines for multinational corporations include recommendations for ethical and responsible behavior in regards to human and labor rights.
It claimed that this was difficult in Myanmar, which has experienced unrest since the military ousted Aung San Suu Kyi’s state in 2021 and sparked an military uprising.
In a speech, IndustriALL, an umbrella organization that represents some 50 million employees and represents more than 600 trade union members, stated that Myanmar’s military leaders now need to “inject international funds into a collapsing business.”
” Meanwhile, Myanmar’s military junta has banned unions and arrested union leaders”, it said, insisting that” there is no freedom of association, unions and other workers ‘ organisations ca n’t function”.  ,
