Visibility drops in parts of Delhi as pollution surges

On Wednesday morning, India’s capital, Delhi, a toxic fog enveloped the country’s capital as temperatures dropped and waste increased, causing awareness to decline in some areas and triggering airport authorities ‘ warning that flights may be impacted.

Delhi overtook Pakistan’s Lahore as the world’s most polluted city in Swiss group IQAir’s live rankings, with an air quality index ( AQI ) score of more than 1, 000, considered “hazardous”, but India’s pollution authority said the AQI was around 350.

Officials could n’t immediately be reached to explain the variation.

By around 8am, the pollution had reduced visibility in some locations, according to the India Meteorological Department ( IMD).

Operator Delhi International Airport Limited stated in a post on social media app X that “low presence techniques” were being implemented at the state’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

” While takeoff and flights continue at Delhi Airport, planes that are not Kitty III cooperative may get affected”, the expert said.
