The dispute over land plots in Buri Ram’s Khao Kradong area between the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) and the Department of Land (DoL) will not snowball into a rift between coalition parties, Deputy Prime MinisterPhumtham Wechayachaisaid.
He was responding to rumors that the ruling Bhumjaithai Party and the decision Pheu Thai Party were engaged in a clean dispute.
The SRT is led by Pheu Thai’s Suriya Jungrungreangkit, while the DoL is led by Bhumjaithai chief Anutin Charnvirakul and minister of internal Anutin Charnvirakul.
” There should be no problem]among coalition partners ]. Somebody must work in line with the law”, said Mr Phumtham, who likewise serves as defence minister.
Land narratives spanning 5, 083 ray in the Khao Kradong area of the Muang region are at the heart of the conflict between the SRT and the DoL. The SRT is attempting to regain its territory, accusing the DoL of being dishonest because it has issued area papers to undocumented residents.
The DoL and the road agency were instructed to work together to study Khao Kradong’s borders, which the Central Administrative Court also ruled in favor of.
Despite the 2021 Supreme Court’s decision to grant the property to the SRT, it was revealed last week that the land committee had voted to reject the property papers.
Mr. Suriya claimed on Tuesday that the SRT had informed the Central Administrative Court on Sunday that the DoL had broken the judge’s order and that it had written an official email to the land committee to protest the land committee’s decision to not revoke the documents.
He brushed aside reports that some areas belong to the Chidchob family, who is said to have a lot of power in Bhumjaithai, and said the situation should n’t be politicized.
The Chidchob family, which owns several businesses on the area, including the Buriram International Circuit and a 32, 600-seat sports stadium, is said to be the owner of 12 property title deeds totaling 179 ray of the property documents to be examined.
