Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra promised to stand by her during the ongoing investigation into allegations that her father, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, received exclusive treatment while he was being held in custody at the Police General Hospital ( PGH), but she refused to interfere.
When questioned about the National Anti-Corruption Commission’s ( NACC ) request for records of Thaksin’s medical treatment, Ms. Paetongtarn stated that the government would follow regulations and cooperate with organizations conducting the investigation.
According to the information privacy-related laws, the prime minister said she is unsure whether or not such information may be disclosed.
According to her position as Thaksin’s child and prime minister who runs the Royal Thai Police (RTP), Ms. Paetongtarn was responding to inquiries about a potential conflict of interest.
She claimed she had not spoken with the federal police chief about the investigation or interacted with her. She continued, noting that if the government cooperated in the investigation, it would n’t negatively affect its reputation.
Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong stated yesterday that the anti-graft company would receive info about Thaksin’s health information and understand details.
He claimed that the government complied with the law, adding that organizations with authority was also inquire about who had visited Thaksin while he was imprisoned at PGH.
However, Sari Ruam Thai Party chief Pol Gen Sereepisuth Temeeyaves, who claimed to be one of the visitors who called on Thaksin during his confinement, has declined to allow him to respond to the House committee on state protection, boundary affairs, and national strategy about his visit.
He claimed that he had already provided the anti-graft company with information and evidence and that there was no need for him to address the House section because the NACC was looking into the matter.
According to Pol Gen Sereepisuth, some commission members are connected to the Pheu Thai Party, which worries him about data leaks.
He claimed that the NACC does demand Thaksin’s health information from the RTP’s head of affairs, Phumtham Wechayachai, and the prime minister and Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, and take legal action against the set if they do not.

The committee’s move followed a report by the National Human Rights Commission ( NHRC ), which raised concerns about preferential treatment for inmates, specifically Thaksin.
