36 dead in bus crash in Indian Himalayas

DEHRADUN, Uttarakhand: A vehicle in India plunged into a deep Himalayan valley on Monday ( Nov 4), killing at least 36 people and injuring many people, a state official said.

The folded wreckage of the bus was captured in photos by government rescue teams in dense undergrowth, with the vehicle’s twisted front almost flat and the front nearly shattered.

Along the numerous rocky roads in the Himalayan location, there are frequently road accidents, most of which are caused by careless maintenance and careless driving in the rough terrain.

” But far, 36 deaths have been confirmed”, Deepak Rawat, a senior official from the northern state of Uttarakhand told investigators.

” Three critically ill people have been taken to a doctor by plane.”

A human network of individuals dotted the steep slopes and a swift river, assisting in the rescue of the injured from the bus’s bones. Dying bodies were carried away and piled on top of a vehicle.

” We extend our deepest sympathies to those who lost their loved ones in the terrible street accident,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Uttarakhand’s deputy minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that he had launched an investigation into the crash, which occurred in wooded rocks close to the town of Almora.
