More meth pills seized on Mekong riverbank

NAKHON PHANOM: A team of rangers from Ranger Corporation 2108 seized 180, 000 methamphetamine capsules from the bank of the Mekong River in Ban Phaeng region on Saturday night time. Nobody was imprisoned.

Luxury touring Wanchat Muanpuen, the organization leader, said while the team was on regular night patrol along the Mekong water a long-tail ship with two to three men on board was spotted landing at Ban Phaeng Tai town in tambon Prohibit Phaeng.

The men not loaded a sack through the boat and still left it on the river bank before racing away.

The rangers analyzed the sack and found 90 plastic packages in it. The particular packages contained a total of 180, 500 meth pills having a street value of about 20 million baht.

It had been believed the meth pills had been smuggled from the northern edge into Laos and after that back into the country within Nakhon Phanom.  

Considering that early this year, over 10 tonnes associated with meth pills had been seized along the border in  Nakhon Phanom, Lt Wanchat stated.
