The man who arrested designed for stealing a metal statue of the mythical Kotchasri, a symbol from the Defence Ministry, was taken to re-enact the crime in front of the Defence Technology Institute in Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi state on Sunday.

Thongchai Saengtrakarn, 38, was arrested at his home in Soi 49 off Chok Chai 4 road in Bangkok’s Lat Phrao district on Sunday and was held at the Pak Kret police station.

At 10am on Sunday, he or she was taken to the particular Defence Technology Start in Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret district for a re-enactment of the criminal offense.

Pol Col Pongchak Preechakarunpong, the Pak Kret police chief, stated Mr Thongchai has been charged with robbing government property.

More asking would be conducted to find if he had dedicated other crimes as Mr Thongchai had previously been convicted in five drug cases – 1 for having illicit medicines in possession and four for illegal use of drugs — and to establish the particular motive of the fraud.

The effigy was among a pair installed ahead of the Defence Technology Institute. A security guard found out the theft on Thursday morning and reported it to police, leading to a study and Mr Thongchai’s arrest.
