WHAT HAPPENED

On Oct 2, &nbsp, Rakibul arrived in Singapore on a journey from Bangladesh.

When he reached the automatic roads at&nbsp, Changi Airport Terminal 2, he was stopped from entering the country by ICA’s program, CPIB said.

Rakibul was &nbsp, escorted&nbsp, to the ICA work agent area for further checks. He was finally taken to a waiting area by ICA Checkpoint Inspector Muhammad Firdaus Ahmad.

Along the way, &nbsp, Rakibul handed INSP Firdaus&nbsp, a piece of paper with the information:” I give you 200 Singapore money inside the card. Let me go to browse Singapore please”.

INSP Firdaus next called&nbsp, Assistant Superintendent Wong Wei Quan to the looking room to assess the situation.

” When ASP Wong attempted to clarify Rakibul’s intent in producing the paper, Rakibul offered S$ 200 in cash to ( him ) as an inducement to be allowed entry into Singapore”, CPIB said.

The two Algorithm officials reported the situation to the CPIB but did not accept the pay. The following morning, Rakbul was charged with corruption in jury.

” Singapore adopts a tight zero-tolerance strategy towards corruption”, CPIB warned.
