Tanjong Katong Complex put up for sale; some tenants must specialise in Malay trades

The Singapore Land Authority ( SLA ) has offered to sell the Tanjong Katong Complex for a 30-year lease, with the tender set to open on Friday ( October 18 ). &nbsp,

The tower is a well-known monument in the Geylang Serai region. When rejuvenated, Tanjong Katong Complex did possess “dedicated spaces for Asian trades” to protect the area’s rich historical worth, said SLA.

” The successful bidder will oversee the management of the property, and&nbsp, dedicate space to residents specialising in Malay investments to ensure the continued emphasis on celebrating, supporting, and sustaining Malay history investments and beliefs”, said SLA.

The complex will house the&nbsp, MENDAKI headquarters, an Islamic Religious Council of Singapore ( MUIS ) office and a public library. &nbsp,

Four cylindrical-shaped structures may be located at each corner of the building, along with the sloped rows facing Tanjong Katong Road, and other memorable features.

This program aligns with the “broader vision” to change the Geylang Serai place, said SLA.

SLA announced that the complex may be shut down for significant upgrades starting in 2021.

SLA announced on Friday that it has since considered several possibilities and has decided to sell the Tanjong Katong Complex.

The delicate will close on Feb 25, 2025. Those engaged in SLA will need to submit a concept plan and a delicate price.

Before the chosen proposals ‘ bids are taken into consideration, the principle ideas will be evaluated first. The sweet will be won by the highest bidder.
