When Xi Wei Feng, 23, was stabbed half in the knee by Lee Heng Wong, 40, and left bleeding in a stairwell, he was a boy and director at a dancing club in Geylang.

After learning that Mr. Xi had passed away after that evening, on February 14, 2010, Lee fled to Malaysia.

On October 13, 2022, he was detained in Malaysia with the assistance of the Royal Malaysia Police and handed over to the Singapore Police Force.

Lee, who has a wife and two children in Malaysia, surrendered to the government, according to Josephus Tan, the attorney for the defense.

Lee pleaded guilty to one count of culpable homicide under Section 304 ( a ) of the Penal Code, which carries a punishment of life imprisonment, or up to 20 years in jail with a fine and caning.

The trial had sought 15 to 18 years in jail, while the army had asked for not more than 11 years ‘ prison.

WHAT HAPPENED

Mr Xi, the prey, had been drinking at De Basement Live Disco from the hour of Feb 13, 2010. Over the course of the day, he became drunken and destructive.

After arguing with other customers, he was ordered to leave the dancing around 1.30am by the hotel staff.

Around 2am, he returned and confronted different customers at a staircase. They exchanged obscenities, and Mr. Xi attempted to push one of them, but he lost his balance and fell down the stairs.

Lee sensed this noise and escorted to the stair where he saw Mr. Xi lying at the bottom of the stairs.

Lee told Mr Xi to keep, but the younger person continued lying on the ground, shouted a vulgarity at Lee, and kicked him in the chest.

Lee returned to the dance and grabbed a razor with a blade that was at least 17.7 cm in length.

The bands waiter saw Lee holding the knife and tried to stop him, telling him “do n’t” in Hokkien. However, Lee passed past him.

When Lee went back to the staircase, he left Mr. Xi bleeding and had half stabbed him in the left hip. Lee did this to “teach him a lessons”, according to court records.

After that, Lee returned to the dance and dumped the weapon in a wash basin. He informed the bar that he had stabbed Mr. Xi, and he continued performing his duties at the dance.

Mr. Xi was lying in a pool of blood in the staircase at the time of 4am when a dancing investor discovered him. The buyer and a cop from a different club attempted to treat him medically.

Around 6:30 am, the various boy called crisis services. Mr Xi was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at about 7.40am.

According to the forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy, the cause of death was generally bleeding and that it would have taken” considerable time” for death to have occurred.

According to court documents,” It may have been possible to save ( Mr Xi’s ) life if prompt surgical attention with blood replacement had taken place.”

When he finished his change, Lee noticed the two men tending to Mr. Xi and left the dancing at around 4am.

Later that morning, he learnt that Mr Xi had died, and decided to flee to Malaysia to avoid abuse.

He remained a fugitive until he turned himself in to the Indonesian police on October 11, 2022, after 12 years and eight months.

Taylor THOUGHT VICTIM WAS” IN GOOD HANDS”: Military

In sentencing claims, Deputy Public Prosecutor Timotheus Koh said that Lee’s abscondment was now factored into the lawyer’s proposed word.

Mr. Koh added that Lee had used the blade “enough power to destroy nearly the entire knife in the deceased’s hip not once, but half” with “enough force.”

Lee showed “blatant reject” for Mr Xi’s lifestyle as well as cheerful, about relaxed attitude after stabbing him, the attorney said.

Lee did not kill Xi in defense, he added, and that Xi was never a threat to him.

Mr Koh also said that Lee’s deeds were premeditated. He had “ample chance” to alter his course of action, but he made the wise choice to get the weapon and kill Mr. Xi.

Lee’s military doctors Mr Tan, Mr Cory Wong and Mr Silas Siew of Invictus Law said that their client “naively underestimated” the effects of his behavior.

He believed that Mr Xi was “in great hands” and thought that by informing the bar of the stabbing, people would handle the situation, they said.

In that moment,” Mr. Lee laments on the backseat that he himself should have simply called for “995,” rather than assuming reliance on others for his own foolish actions,” they said.

Mr Tan even argued that Mr Xi was no “motionless” or “harmless”, but Justice Valerie Thean interjected:” How is he not safe? He’s lying there on the floor, he’s obviously injured by the fall”.

Giving the word, Justice Thean noted that as a team boy, Lee was employed to maintain law and order, but introduced “excessive violence and aggression” otherwise.

She said that even if Mr Xi was disrespectful to Lee, he was evidently prone and defenceless. She agreed with the trial that Lee acted in a playful manner and showed blatant disregard for Mr. Xi’s career.

However, she likewise took into account that Lee indicated his intention to plead guilty earlier on, once the prosecution’s case was available.
