China urges India to handle Taiwan issue cautiously after Mumbai office opening

Beijing: Following the opening of another Taiwan de facto consulate in Mumbai on Thursday ( October 17 ), China urged India to handle Taiwan issues with caution and refrain from influencing the enlargement of Sino-Indian relations.

China opposes goes by any states it has relationships with to participate in formal links with Taiwan, said Mao Ning, a international ministry spokesperson, at a normal news event.

According to Taiwan’s standard Central News Agency, the government of Taiwan opened its second representative office in India on Wednesday, adding to its already existing ones in Chennai and New Delhi.

China and India are working to alleviate conflicts and end problems on their Alpine border, a source of conflict that has strained diplomatic ties.

China, which views democratically-governed Taiwan as its own place, staged a fresh round of warfare games around the area earlier this year.

Taiwan’s state rejects Beijing’s state of the right to represent and reflect the island on the global stage and China’s claims of sovereignty.

Mao said,” China has lodged grave images with the Indian side.”

The Indian government’s “one-China rule” is considered the political foundation of Sino-Indian relations and a significant commitment to it.

China urges India to completely abide by its agreements, control Taiwan-related problems wisely and appropriately, and desist from conducting any form of official exchanges with Taiwan, she added.
