Day 3 of Pritam Singh’s trial: Raeesah rebuts pointed questions, defence tries to impeach her

THE LIE, THE Reality AND THE RETAINED Tale

Earlier on Wednesday, Mr Jumabhoy had questioned Ms Khan about how she had been in parliament for over 13 times by October 2021, and how she was 27 and” not a girl”.

” And you know, do n’t you- right from wrong”? asked the attorney.

He added that Ms. Khan did n’t need a rule to tell lies to her friends.

” And you certainly did n’t need a directive when you lied to Mr Singh”, he continued. ” But, you seem, according to you, to have a law to tell the truth”?

In reply, Ms Khan said she wanted to go to her rulers for counsel after making the “mistake”, referring to her false story.

Ms Khan testified that she thought the lie “would n’t come up”. She skipped the September sitting because she had roofing after initial giving it in parliament on August 3, 2021.

A day before the second perched on Oct 4, 2021, Singh visited Ms Khan’s home with his wife. Ms. Khan claimed that Singh said,” I do n’t think the issue will come up, but if it does, he’s not going to judge me for continuing the narrative.”

She claimed that she was “terrified of what would transpire” if she told the truth and that “it seemed that Pritam was supportive of me continuing to stay on October 4, 2021.”

Law Minister K Shanmugam pressed her for clarification regarding her story, including when and where it was located, when congress convened that evening.

Ms. Khan informed Mr. Shanmugam that she would not be providing any more replies, citing security, after texting Singh about what she should do.

” That’s a lie you came up with all by yourself right”, asked Mr Jumabhoy. This was acknowledged by Ms. Khan.

” We’ve seen how you are really capable of telling lies in response to the president’s question on October 4,” the minister said. After that you went out and you drafted a speech, right”? asked the attorney.

Ms Khan agreed. She wrote a note in her cellphone that read,” I am disappointed then that the government has pushed me to break all aspects of security and acceptance.” If the Minister understood the problems that individuals go with, how much pain we experience, both physically and mentally, he’d be focused on helping victims otherwise of grilling them”.

She continued to make this declaration by emailing her companion, Ms. Loh Peiying, who responded,” It would be a terrible thing to say.”

Mr Jumabhoy said:” Therefore despite being in a state of fear, you prepared this speech, which generally accuses the state of doubting victims”.

Ms Khan acknowledged this.

” The government does n’t doubt survivors. It doubts you. That’s proper”, said Mr Jumabhoy.

” Yes”, replied Ms Khan.

The attorney then said this was” a big difference”, but it was not what her speech reflected. He continued, saying that Singh was no “at all” in any way related to October 4, 2021, and how Ms. Khan responded to Mr. Shanmugam without being instructed to do so or writing the statement that the government does not question victims.

” That’s all you”, he said, to which Ms Khan agreed.

The prosecutor also showed Ms. Khan a concept she sent to Ms. Loh and Mr. Nathan during which she wrote,” Pritam has actually been truly great.”

When this information was sent on Oct 5, 2021, the false tale “was all blowing away”, and her communication was that” Pritam has actually been truly great”, said Mr Jumabhoy.

So, he said,” The people you are praising at this point are the people who had told you to lie.”

Ms. Khan responded that it was about them taking the time to guide her and demonstrate what she believed to be compassion rather than telling her to rest.

Mr. Jumabhoy finally made the suggestion to her that Singh always told her to stay in the first place or to fabricate more lies.

” That’s all you”, he said.

” He told me to maintain the tale, that I’d been lying”, answered Ms Khan.

” Did he tell you to make up more rests, yes or no”? asked the attorney.

” No”, Ms Khan said.

Mr. Jumabhoy even inquired about Ms. Khan’s relationship with her WP friends, Ms. Loh and Mr. Nathan, in order to align their information.

Ms. Khan claimed at first that they did n’t talk much about what they were going to say in their testimony. Rather,” we only met sort of just to be there for each other”, she said.

Therefore, when Singh knew her story was false, Mr. Jumabhoy inquired if she had intended to lay about it.” Did you tell Ms Loh that you were going to lie when Pritam knew?” asked the question.

” No”, replied Ms Khan.

Do you know why Ms. Loh pushed you to do that because it may conflict with the documentation she wanted to provide to the COP? asked the attorney.

” Yes”, answered Ms Khan.

Mr Jumabhoy paused. ” You say’ No I did n’t do that’, I talked about what you wanted to say, then you said- ‘ yes, Ms Loh talked you out of that”?

She answered:” I would n’t say talk me out of, but… the conversation was, if we were asked, we would come up with the truth. There would be no ambiguity in it.

She then acknowledged that they had in fact discussed what information to present to the COP.

DEFENCE SUBMITS 3 IMPEACHMENT Programs
