Dr. Koh responded to inquiries from Members of Parliament regarding stall stall rental and stated that the NEA is reviewing the appropriate regulations at hawker centers to make sure that the system continues to operate while keeping hawker food accessible.
In July, a hawker submitted a bid of S$ 10, 158 ( US$ 7, 770 )  , to rent a vacant stall at Marine Parade Central Market and Food Centre. It was apparently the second-highest pay for a stall stall in the previous six years, and it was also the unit’s highest bid.
Dr. Koh reiterated that stall stalls do not typically have high sweet costs.  ,
Last year, about one in five prepared food kiosks were awarded at or under S$ 500. The middle powerful sweet price for fried food stalls across stalls areas was about S$ 2, 000 in 2022, and S$ 1, 800 in 2023, he added.  ,
Through regular sweet exercises conducted by NEA, which Dr. Koh described as” transparent and fair,” vacancies are created for unfilled hawker stalls for bids.
He said that after a second lease name of three decades, tendered rents are changed to assessed marketplace rents determined by independent professionals for the evaluation.  ,
He continued, noting that NEA no longer sets a minimum bid amount for stalls stall tenders, but that it has since removed reserve rents.  ,
” As for, tenderers can secure booths at lower-than-market lease for the first lease term. This would not be possible under a concept where stalls are distributed at fixed rental rates, according to Dr. Koh.  ,
