The Thai contractor who was killed by an blast in northeastern Israel has received apologies from the Ministry of Labour. It is contacting the Population and Immigration Authority ( Piba ) to find out why Thai military personnel were permitted to work in a military-protected area.
Nisan Meerum, 42, a local of Buri Ram county, passed away on Saturday morning, according to Israeli officials and the Royal Thai Embassy in Tel Aviv. Nissan was killed in a northern Israeli apple orchard by an explosion of left ammunition.
Bunsong Tapchaiyut, the permanent secretary of the Labour Ministry, claimed Thai authorities are awaiting confirmation of his identity by Israeli authorities before returning his brain to Thailand for religious ceremonies.
According to him, the government will make sure his family receives the rewards they are entitled to.
Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn stated that the government even extended its condolences to the families of Israelis who have passed away.
He claimed that the government is currently attempting to determine whether the event occurred in a military-accessible area and why Thai workers were permitted to enter.
He added that the government is awaiting a report on the incident from the Jewish state.
Nisan’s family, Phrueksa Meeram, 43, said her father initially left to work in Israel in December 2020. He returned in October last year after the Israel-Hamas conflict broke out, she said.
His Jewish employer called about seven months later, asking him to continue his fruit-picking job that in order to fulfill his five-year, three-month employment contract, according to his wife.

He went to Israel once in June– despite criticism from household members– due to the family’s economic stresses, she said.
Ms. Phrueksa claimed she contacted her partner daily and called and messaged him because she was concerned for his safety. Her final call to him occurred on Friday at 10am native period.

On Saturday, the Israeli Defence Forces declared five fresh closed military districts in northeastern Israel, near the Lebanon borders, said the Thai Embassy. They include Zarit, Shomera, Shtula, Netuya, Yet Menachem, Rosh, Hanikra, Shlomi, Hanita, Adamit, Muslim al-Aramshe, Metula, Misgav Am, Kfar Giladi, Dovev, Tziv’on and Malkia.
