Although China is Vietnam’s biggest business companion, the two nations have historically interconnected tensions, including in the South China Sea, a lake that handles trillions of dollars annually.
Vietnam’s leading head To Lam and Li agreed on Saturday to raise defence and financial assistance, Asian state advertising reported.
The two agreed to “maintain standard high-level markets and participation in defence, security, and international politics… expanding the implementation of new mechanisms”, the Nhan Dan paper said.
According to the newspapers, Vietnam may encourage more high-tech Chinese investment and Beijing may expand the country’s agricultural product market.
