A Korean physician was detained on Friday for carrying out cosmetic procedures without a license at a clinic in Bangkok’s Pathumwan area.

The doctor, whose name was kept secret, was apprehended while he was evaluating the clinic’s charm development offerings and offering discussion services.

The Department of Health Service Support ( DHSS) at the Ministry of Public Health was alerted about the illegal employment of a foreign doctor and contacted police, said Dr Phanuwat Panket, the department’s director-general. A recommendation was also made for Thailand’s health government.

The suspect may be charged with breaking the Medical Profession Act Get 2525 by practicing medicine without proper membership and authorization, which could result in up to three years in jail and/or a fine of up to 30 000 ringgit.

According to Dr. Phanuwat, the DHSS will lodge a complaint against the doctor owner, who will be found guilty of carelessness under the Hospital Act Get 2541.
