People’s Party calls on govt to seek fugitive’s extradition

The Women’s Party’s president has advised the authorities to use the 44th Asean Summit in Vientiane as a tool to secure the returning of a criminal from the notorious Tak Bai murder situation, who is thought to have since fled to Japan.

The mountain, which will see Japan enter the Asean Dialogue Partners meetings, may serve as a pipeline for the quick gain of the criminal, said opposition innovator Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut.

At least two of the seven suspects indicted in the Criminal Court in connection with the Tak Bai massacre, which left scores of people dead, have left the country, according to the Provincial Police Region ( PPR ) 9 told the House Committee on Legal Affairs, Justice, and Human Rights on Wednesday, despite their identities being kept a secret.

The two defendants, one of whom is believed to have gone to Japan, left before the arrest warrants reached the Immigration Bureau, the PPR9 said.

The test of the suspects was about to begin, and the statute of limitations on the situation was about to expire.

The massacre took place in Narathiwat’s Tak Bai area on Oct 25, 2004, and the 20-year act will move up in 15 times on Oct 25. More than 80 Thai citizens are alleged to have died as a result of a policeman rally distribution.

They will no longer be held legally responsible if a suspect may be tried before the statute’s expiration.

Monday, Mr Natthaphong said the government ‘ work to return the fugitives may miss the deadline. He claimed to have learned the authorities plan to obtain a Red Notice from Interpol, but claimed that the demand was still being translated into English.

He suggested that Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra speak with the Chinese delegation at the Asean Summit and request that the fugitive be deported by stating that he is a significant suspect in a human right situation.

The Tak Bai murder, he reasoned, is a high-profile event that has attracted the nation’s interest.

Some of the defendants, including ruling Pheu Thai Party record MP Gen Pisal Wattanawongkiri, have not reported to the judge to recognize the prosecution.

Gen Pisal reportedly received permission to travel for health care. His leave of absence exceeds the statute’s issuance.

The prime minister should do everything in her power to discuss the record of the criminal with Japan on the side of the Asean Summit,” according to Mr. Natthaphong.

The emotional scar caused to local residents by the Tak Bai murder does not heal, the criticism leader said, adding that Japan had been willing to assist.

Without such political email, there is a slim chance of beating the Oct 25 date, he reasoned.

Gen Pisal was in charge of the Third Military Region that was involved in the Tak Bai murder, which took place when security forces strewn a stale protest in front of the Tak Bai district’s police station. Six prisoners were being requested by the activists.
