A gun was discovered hidden in his bag at Phuket International Airport, making an 82-year-old European man the subject of an arrest.

A regular check by Aiyanah Pa-ngo, an X-ray test at the air-port, revealed a suspicious item resembling a firearm during a Monday night outbound flight. She reported it to her better, and she immediately searched the carrier thoroughly in the baggage area at Gate 81.

The research found a short-barrel Astra-Cal 6.35 a25 gun inside the case, said Pol Capt Kornphumpot Phongphaiboon, assistant research chief at the Sakhu authorities station.

The case belonged to Kurt Fritz Loliger, 82. He was eventually arrested.

The Swedish man reportedly told police that he thought it was okay to bring a cannon with no weapons or magazine on a flight while being interrogated. According to police, he had chosen to take it to his house country because he believed it to be legal.

He has been charged with illegally possessing a firearm by the authorities.
