SINGAPORE: Six people were hurt when two shophouse units at Syed Alwi Road partially collapsed on Tuesday ( Oct 8 ).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to an incident , at about 1.30am at 84 and 85 Mian Alwi Road, which is in the Little India city.
Initial findings point to the possibility that a accumulation of volatile gas at the first component, a restaurant, was what caused an explosion and the decline of the two-storey shophouses.  ,
In a Facebook release posted at noon, SCDF stated that” there are presently no flammable gas observations detected at the event site.”
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA ) earlier said the cause of the incident was” suspected” to be a gas explosion.
No one was discovered trapped beneath the debris, according to SCDF, adding that a drone and two search dogs were deployed to aid the activity.
A man was unable to leave the cafe because of a blocked stairway, so firefighters used a ladder to rescue her from the second floor.  ,
” As some passers-by had apparently heard a loud blast during the incident, a rescue system was deployed as a precautionary measure, to disperse any possible build-up of flammable vapors using its waters mist spray work”, said SCDF.
