Philippines ex-president Duterte to run for city mayor

Rodrigo Duterte, the former leader of the Philippines, registered his candidacy for the position of president of Davao in the midterm elections scheduled for the year on October 7th.

Duterte, who as president started a fatal drug war in Davao in 2016 that is the focus of both local and international investigations, has ruled out this home stronghold.

Prior to the 2028 national elections, he had a terrible, public disagreement with the family of Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.

” I want to offer you”, 79-year-old Duterte, the parents of Vice President Sara Duterte, told reporters after submitting his election records in Davao City.

His running mate may be his brother and former Davao president, Sebastian Duterte, and he said he planned to make Davao “better than yesterday”.

The former president’s choice to work is thought to be a walk to win support for his child Sara, who is widely anticipated to run for president in 2028.

The Duterte and Marcos people ‘ efforts to bolster their support systems before the midterm elections in 2025 are important.
