India’s ruling party set to lose two state elections, exit polls show

Exit polls showed that India’s ruling party is projected to have lost two crucial municipal elections to its main opposition party and its friends, causing yet another loss after the party performed poorly in federal elections.

Local media reported that Congress had a clear advantage in the state of Haryana’s northern state, putting an end to a decade of its ruling by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) in the state. In Jammu and Kashmir, in the Himalayan region, the criticism was dominant.

The two elections were conducted in separate phases that ended on October 5 ( Oct 5 ). On Tuesday, votes may be counted, and results may be made public the same day. The benefits of the exit surveys were released late on Saturday.

Enter surveys, conducted by secret voting companies, including TV broadcasters, have a lackedluster record in India, which analysts claim poses a certain issue given its large and diverse election base.

The BJP’s victory in the June general election was predicted by the exit elections, but it fell short and needed regional parties to assemble a coalition government in order to regain a lot.

Since the federal elections, the two American territories have been the first to hold the polls.

India’s commercial hub of Maharashtra and the mineral-rich northeast condition of Jharkhand, following up in municipal elections, are awaiting the news of ballot dates that are expected to be in November.

The Himalayan area, which has endured years of violent violence, saw its first election in a decade with the Jammu and Kashmir vote. It has been the subject of a dispute with neighboring Pakistan since 1947 and is India’s even Muslim-majority place.

Its reputation as a unique semi-autonomous object was revoked in 2019 by Modi’s state, which says the shift has helped to restore sanity in the area and boosted growth.
