Fireboats ‘needed’ to meet threat of cruise ship fires

According to a former assistant commander of the Third Naval Area Command, Phuket, Phangnga, and Krabi need fireboats that can prevent potential boat send fire.

Even though these provinces welcome hundreds of cruise ships every year, Rear Adm Amornchote Sujirat claimed there are n’t any firefighting boats in these three regions.

Fire aboard ships are popular, particularly when they are docked, and they frequently lead to sinking because fires don’t be put out in time, he said.

Rear Adm Amornchote suggested that the government collect high-pressure fireboats, especially skiffs, to handle situations more efficiently.

He also emphasized the crucial role that fire prevention measures on board vessels, including properly trained staff members and appropriate equipment, play in preventing fires immediately.

Feedback made by Rear Adm. Amornchote following a fire on the Flamingo Lady 2 boat on Thursday according to an motor damage that caused an explosion, which caused the ship to sink off Phuket.

He urged local regulators to address the lack of fire vessels in order to improve health at occupied ports, despite the fact that no lives were lost in the event.

The catamaran’s commander, Jaroon Ruengsamut, sustained minor wounds. He was taken to Thalang Hospital in Phuket for care.

The formation of a commission to investigate the incident has been mandated by Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri.

Additionally, Ms. Manaporn ordered the catamaran’s operating license to be reviewed and the rank of its licence status. If it was discovered that the license had expired and had n’t received an extension, she said legal action would be taken.

She emphasized that all customer boats must be strictly secured, and that technicians must adhere to all applicable legal safety regulations to avoid accidents.
