Police nab 20 foreigners at Pattaya villas

Foreign and Thai suspects in connection with illegal banking and online gambling

CHON BURI- Nineteen Foreign nationals and one Vietnamese have been detained in Pattaya for facilitating online gambling and offering unlawful loans. Police also seized 13 servers, 100 cellular phones and an unknown amount of cash.

According to Pol Maj Gen Chatchai Surachetphong, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, the detention took place at three residences in the Bang Lamung area within Pattaya city boundaries.

Officers located a Vietnamese woman and six Taiwanese men who were contacted by customers to provide loans in the first house.

In the next residence, police found another eight Taiwanese people, while five more were found in the next home.

Officers discovered that each of the three organizations had different roles. The second group claimed to provide meals for the first two groups, the second claimed to be involved in lending money to another Chinese citizens, and the second claimed to be involved in managing the first two teams.

The 20 defendants were immediately accused of working without a force, but more accusations are likely to surface as a result of further investigation, according to Pol Maj Gen Chatchai.
