The Narcotics Suppression Bureau ( NSB ) seized more than 380 million methamphetamine, or ya ba, pills in the 2024 fiscal year that ended on Monday, according to a report.
The total, according to Commissioner Pol Lt. Gen. Khirisak Tantinvachai, means that the NSB has seized 137 million more cocaine supplements than it did during the fiscal year of 2023, an increase of 56 %. 41 % of the meth tablets that the Royal Thai Police took in total during the fiscal year 2024 are seized because of this.
The medicines were seized during sting procedures aimed at tackling more than 100 medicine networks, which resulted in the arrest of 518 more suspects than the previous fiscal year.
Additionally, the NSB seized more than 4 billion baht of property that the suspects allegedly acquired with pharmaceutical money, according to Pol Lt. Gen. Khirisak.
Regarding borders suppression work, Pol Lt Gen Khirisak said that the NSB was involved in 90 effective cases against big retailers, or those having at least 500, 000 methamphetamines tablets, an 87 % increase over the last year.
Of the 380 million cocaine medications seized, 361 million were intercepted near edges.
At least 14 million tablets were seized at the border in the Mae Taeng city of Chiang Mai on April 20 this year, which was one of the biggest situations.
It was part of an NSB reduction procedure named” 100]Drug] Network Hunting”, said Pol Lt Gen Khirisak.
Another significant arrest, known as Operation Poseidon, was reported by Pol Lt Gen Khirisak on December 4, 2023.
A key drug trafficking operation was the focus of Operation Poseidon, which was led by the ship’s commander, who has not yet been named. The NSB seized assets worth 140 million baht, as well as 1.2 kilograms of ketamine and about a tonne of ya snow.
Even seized were 90 kilograms of benzene, a clear, colourless water that is often used in medicine production, at Laem Chabang Pier on July 12, said Pol Lt Gen Khirisak.
