Keppel to build and operate centralised cooling systems for three Tengah BTO projects

SINGAPORE: Keppel will design, build, own and operate centralised cooling systems at three&nbsp, upcoming Build-to-Order ( BTO ) projects in Tengah after winning a 20-year contract to provide the services.

The jobs -&nbsp, Brickland Weave, Plantation Edge I &amp, II and Plantation Verge- are slated for implementation in 2027.

The centralised cooling systems will serve about&nbsp, 3, 500 households across the three projects, Keppel and the&nbsp, Housing and Development Board ( HDB) said in a joint media release on Monday ( Sep 30 ).

Centralized cooling systems include the distribution of frozen liquid from centralized chillers installed on the rooftops of particular HDB prevents to cool the apartments. &nbsp,

They are a more energy-efficient option than standard air conditioning units and are a defining characteristic of Tengah, which is hailed as Singapore’s first intelligent and responsible HDB area.

Some Tengah occupants had issues with the national grid operator SP Group and the air conditioner maker Daikin’s centralized cooling systems.

Problems ranged from leaking and condensation&nbsp, to the program not being cool enough.

Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, SP Group attributed the issues to construction delays, which meant it had less time to carry out checks before meeting HDB’s accelerated timeframe for handing over apartments to residents.
