Anutin Charnvirakul, the deputy prime minister and internal minister, will now inquire the cabinet to consider restricting flood victims from paying their monthly electric and water bills.
The plan, according to Mr. Anutin, is intended to assist people who reside in places that have been designated as a disaster area.
If the request is approved by the cabinet, households in affected areas wo n’t be required to pay this month’s utility bills.
Those who have outstanding bills from previous months, meanwhile, could request to pay in instalments, Mr Anutin said, before adding authorities wo n’t suspend electricity and water supplies in affected areas.
When asked about the state of the country’s flood condition, Mr. Anutin stated that regulators will continue to monitor the situation closely as more rainfall falls in the coming days. However, the situation has started to fade in some areas.
” The main priority right now is to assist and help flood survivors so that their life can return to normal as soon as possible,” he said.
Clean-up attempts are now live in areas where the storms have receded, carried out by state firms, aided by the defense and individuals.
