Live: Iswaran’s trial to begin, 8 months after Singapore’s former minister was first charged

SINGAPORE: The trial of former transport minister S Iswaran will begin on&nbsp, Tuesday ( Sep 24 ), eight months after he was &nbsp, first charged with multiple offences including corruption.

The 62-year-old is the first&nbsp, social office-holder in Singapore to been tried in court in nearly five decades.

Iswaran faces 35 charges, accused of obtaining more than S$ 400, 000 ( US$ 310, 000 ) worth of items during his time as a public servant. &nbsp, He has pleaded not guilty to all the expenses.
