China urges vigilance against Taiwanese cyberattacks

BEIJING: China’s national security ministry said on Monday ( Sep 23 ) a Taiwan military-backed hacking group called Anonymous 64 has been carrying out cyberattacks against targets in China, urging people to report “anti-propaganda sabotage”.

Taiwan’s military government denied the claims, saying China was the true disturber of the harmony with its attacks and military abuse.

Since the beginning of this year, Anonymous 64- which China’s regional security ministry said belonged to Taiwan’s digital warfare wing- has sought to upload and broadcast” content that denigrates the mainland’s social system and big policies”, on websites, outside screens and network TV stations, the nationwide security ministry said in a blog post.

Taiwan often accuses Chinese organizations of attempting to spread online rumors or launch cyberattacks across the democratically guided island. China asserts its sovereignty over Taiwan and has mounted military and political force over its assertions over the past five decades.

The Taiwan military agency’s Information, Communications and Electronic Force Command said China’s charges were unfounded.

” The present army position and virtual challenges are severe”, it said in a declaration.

The Chinese communist government and its allies continue to harass Taiwan through cyberattacks, ships, and aircraft, and are the ones who are at the forefront of undermining provincial harmony.

Taiwan’s state rejects Beijing’s autonomy claims.
