Indian police chief in Kolkata sacked after protests over doctor’s murder

” Vineet Goyal, director of Kolkata policeman, will also be removed, as demanded by the young physicians”.

However, West Bengal Junior Doctors Front official Aniket Mahato stated that they would not hold rallies until the case’s investigation was finished.

On Monday, thousands of protesters marched through the city’s streets, chanting mantras and demanding righteousness for the victims.

A national task force was set up by India’s Supreme Court last month to study ways to improve surveillance for medical workers, claiming that the cruelty of the shooting had” shocked the morality of the nation.”

The brutality of the assault has drawn comparisons to the 2012 group murder and murder of a young girl on a Delhi vehicle.
