Man arrested for biting police officer, other offences after car chase

SINGAPORE: A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday ( Sep 16 ) after he bit a police officer while attempting to evade arrest, the police said in a news release.

A pair of traffic police officers on patrol were the first to spot the man driving at high speed on the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway at around 1.25am, according to the Singapore Police Force ( SPF).

When signalled to quit, the gentleman rather sped away, evading the achievement of the officials. Before striking a steel pole along Punggol Central, he stopped at a red light.

The man finally fled on foot, but the pursuing officers were able to prevent him. One of the officers was bit on the left shoulder as the soldiers attempted to detain him.

However, the officer was able to defeat and arrest the man when additional soldiers came in as reinforcements.

” The gentleman was the subject of a hunt. Pharmaceutical equipment was found in his possession”, said authorities.

Additionally, studies revealed that the person was wanted by the authorities for posing for money with his Singpass credentials in February.

Although attempts to open bank accounts by the mysterious group failed, he had given his Singpass registration information to an unknown group, according to authorities.

The 26-year-old official who was bitten had a bruising on his left shoulder. He was taken to the hospital and later released with two weeks of health left.

The person will be charged with one count of computer use after disclosing his Singpass information and one count of deliberately causing harm to a public maid from the release of his duties on Tuesday.

He may also face charges for unsafe driving, operating a motor vehicle without coverage policy, and driving without a valid license.

Investigations by the Central Narcotics Bureau ( CNB) into the suspected drug-related offences are ongoing, police said.

The authorities” will never hesitate to take serious action” because they have zero tolerance for such violent acts against police officials.

Additionally, customers police take serious action against drivers who operate vehicles without appropriate licenses. People who choose to circumvent traffic laws may suffer severe consequences.
