Flooding affects about 30,000 families in 12 Thai provinces

Flooding is affecting 30, 073 people in 12 regions, mostly in the North, and is rising in some regions, particularly northern ones, on Sunday while weather forecasters expect more weighty rains this year. &nbsp,

Chaiwat Chuntirapong, director-general of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, on Sunday said that flood continued in:

    With steady flood rates, Ang Thong state in the Wiset Chai Chan area.

  • Ayutthaya territory in Bang Ban, Bang Pahan, Bang Pa-in, Bang Sai, Phai Hai and Sena regions with steady rainwater
  • Chiang Rai territory in Chiang Khong, Chiang Saen, Doi Luang, Mae Chan, Mae Fah Luang, Mae Sai, Muang, Thoeng and Wiang Kaen regions with storm degrees falling
  • With rising rainwater levels, Loei province in the districts of Chiang Khan and Pak Chom
  • With declining disaster levels, Mae Hong Son state in the Pang Ma Pha and Sop Moei regions.
  • Rainwater is rising in Nan province in the Wiang Sa area.
  • Nong Khai territory in Muang, Ratana Wapi, Sangkhom, Sri Chiang Mai and Tha Bo regions with rising storm rates
  • With decreasing disaster levels, Chon Daen and Nong Phai districts in Phetchabun state experienced low storm levels.
  • With secure storm levels, the province of Phitsanulok is located in the Bang Rakam, Muang, and Phrom Phiram regions.
  • With declining rainwater levels, Prachin Buri state in the Muang and Prachantakham regions.
  • Floodwater is receding in Sukhothai state in Kong Krailat area.
  • Lower storm levels in the towns of Tak territory in Mae Ramat, Mae Sot, Phop Phra, and Tha Song Yang.

Mr Chaiwat said that from Aug 16 to Sept 15, flooding killed 43 people, injured 24 people and damaged 133, 040 people in 28 regions, half of which were in the North.

Heavy rainfall was forecast in the Northeast, the East, and the South’s eastern coast from Sunday to Tuesday, according to the Meteorological Department. Rainfall may decrease in the North and the Upper Northeast from Wednesday to Saturday, but it will continue to fall in the Lower Northeast, the Central Plains, the East and the South.
