Bangkok Metropolitan Council okays new budget of B90.8bn

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA ) has approved a budget totaling over 90.8 billion baht for the 2025 fiscal year, with the largest portion going to the Public Works Department.

BMC people and BMA professionals, including government Chadchart Sittipunt, participated in a council meeting Wednesday, during which the funds for the 2025 governmental time, starting Oct 1, was confirmed.

Of the approved number, 90 billion ringgit was designated for the BMA’s designed costs, and the other 828.53 million ringgit was to finance the BMA’s commercial ideas.

The BMC eliminated 25 million baht from the trading strategy and 5. 57 billion from the town’s expenditure strategy.

Among the slashed money was a 29.50-million-baht demand by the Public Works Department to get experts for three new initiatives, including medical properties.

The BMC said the ministry had sufficient skills, making hiring outsiders superfluous.

Mr. Chadchart thanked the BMC for backing the budget’s 2025 spending plan and promised to make sure that the BMA’s budgetary saving decisions are made with efficiency and transparency.

The three BMA agencies given the highest resources are the Public Works Department, the Drainage and Sewerage Department and the Medical Services Department, which may get 9.21 billion, 7.08 billion and 6.89 billion ringgit.

D Krabang, Nong Chok and Bang Khun Thian city agencies will receive the highest monthly expenditure of 797.06 million, 763.97 million and 734.13 million ringgit.

Mr. Chadchart also requested that the BMC considerapproving a specific budget request for 14.54 billion ringgit to pay debts owed to the operator of the Green Line energy rail system, or BTS Skytrain, at the meeting.

According to Mr. Chadchart, the BMA is liable for paying the late payments resulting from the Supreme Administrative Court’s decision, which the Bangkok Mass Transit System PCL hired to run the electric coach structure and provide maintenance services.

The BMC made the decision to create a committee to examine the plea in process. Within 30 days, the commission is expected to release its results.
