Zoo asks ‘Moo Deng’ fans to behave

Although baby hippo is a huge hit, some visitors are very enthralled with him.

Although Thailand has grown enamored of Moo Deng, Chon Buri’s Khao Kheow Open Zoo requires visitors to act around the two-month-old dwarf hippo.

After movies that were widely circulated on social media showed some readers throwing what appeared to be oysters at the new aquarium star while she napped, the park staff made the request on Thursday.

In a statement, aquarium director Narongwit Chodchoi instructed visitors to avoid striking the young pet because they were concerned about the potential harm.

Another video shows a customer groping over and splashing water on Moo Deng, causing a stir among the locals.

Mr. Narongwit added that when Moo Deng is alive, it is the best time to visit her.

He claimed that CCTV cameras have been set up around the walls at the park. If customers do not cooperate, the park perhaps consider legitimate action to protect its rooms, he said.
