Due to severe flood in the northern state, flights serving Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport on Thursday canceled all planes for the rest of the time.

The final airlines operating to the major airports in the northeastern province were AirAsia trip FD 3209 from Don Mueang in Bangkok, arriving at 12.40pm, and FD 3210 from Chiang Rai to Don Mueang, departing at 1.10pm, airport authorities said in a statement.

Prior to this, Transportation Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit advised the people to avoid the airport because the access road was submerged, preventing staff and visitors from getting to the page.

He mandated improvements to aircraft management’s disaster response plans, including maintaining water pumps and dredging rivers.

He also requested Kirati Kitmanawat, president of the Airports of Thailand ( AOT ), visit the airport to get food, drink water, and arrange for the evacuation of passengers and staff as needed.

Mr. Kirati claimed that the aircraft itself was still operating despite the fact that all regular-flight carriers, including VietJet Air, Lion Air, Thai Airways International, and Thai AirAsia, suspended the rest of their airlines on Thursday.

Although the aircraft had its own strength backup system, which was sufficient to move operations, he claimed, the power supply from the outside was disconnected.

Floodwater only affected the airport’s entry and the staff’s homes, Mr. Kirati said, but it did not reach the customer terminal, aircraft parking areas, taxiways, or runway.

” But, aircraft can take off and land around”, he said.

He claimed that the aircraft was therefore prepared to help the transportation of necessities to aid flood victims.
