Vietjet Air, Lion Air cancel planes at Chiang Rai’s major airports

Lee RAI: The economic hub of this northern province is currently flooded, with floods reaching waist-deep amounts and rising as a result of the overflowing Kok River.

Access to important locations like the municipal hall and the five-way Pho Khun crossing is affected by the closing of roads and bridges in the Muang district on Thursday morning.

Due to strong currents, evacuations started on Wednesday night, when residents were unable to continue in the ground-floor homes. To aid in the evacuation of those trapped by the rapid-flowing waters, jet ski were used.

Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport confirmed on Thursday night that business was still going on, but that individual airlines were making decisions regarding the status of scheduled flights.

On Thursday, Vietjet Air and Lion Air canceled all airlines to the Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport. Some airlines announced that individuals could transform their journey dates without paying any fees or surcharges.

Travellers could use an alternative gate near the airport’s weather station instead of the principal entrance, according to aircraft management.

Chiangrai Prachanukroh Hospital in the Muang district announced on Thursday that it was only currently treating emergency situations.

Muang area in Chiang Rai is one of the six regions that has experienced flood damage. People are Chiang Khong, Chiang Saen, Mae Chan, Mae Fah Luang and Mae Sai. The disaster situation has affected more than 10, 000 homes. In Mae Fah Luang, there have been three fatalities.
