Pope Francis commends Singapore’s policies supporting the vulnerable, hopes for special attention to poor and elderly

Mr. Tharman noted in his state address that Pope Francis has been an “impassioned world voice” against war and encourages dialogue and harmony among various groups and beliefs. &nbsp,

” This is an issue that speaks with Singaporeans… There was a time in our past when these experiences gave way to inter-communal hostilities”, he added. &nbsp,

According to Mr. Tharman, Singaporeans treasure being in a nation where different racial and ethnic neighborhoods coexist happily. &nbsp,

” Diversity is tolerated in Singapore, but it has come to be more than that. He continued, citing the functions that spiritual leaders and their communities each play in their respective communities as well as the fact that it is seen as bringing wealth to our lives. &nbsp,

” None of this came naturally. It has been the work of nation-building over decades” .&nbsp,

Pope Francis also emphasized the importance of the home, noting that the social situations that support families are currently in play are putting strain on the foundations on which they are built. &nbsp,

Families may be permitted to impart values that “give interpretation and shape to existence” and to educate young people how to build strong and healthy relationships. &nbsp,

” Efforts to promote, protect and support family unity through the work of various institutions are therefore to be commended” .&nbsp,

On Thursday night, Pope Francis did go bulk and give a lecture to 50, 000 persons at the National Stadium. &nbsp,
