Paetongtarn Shinawatra sworn in as new Thai PM: Local TV

Bangkok: On Friday ( Sep. 6), Thailand swore Paetongtarn Shinawatra as prime minister, cappping a quarter of social unrest that saw her father be removed from office and the main opposition party dissolve.

Paetongtarn, the girl of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, took the oath in a closed-door meeting with King Maha Vajiralongkorn around 6.15pm, actually becoming Thailand’s youngest prime minister.

With three previous prime ministries removed by dictatorships or court orders, she is also the second person and third person from the Shinawatra community to hold the highest elected position in Thailand.

Eventually, the 38-year-old head was seen greeting writers before driving an established vehicle and departing Government House.

In a statement aired on television news, the king congratulated her new Cabinet, saying,” I rely on you to carry out your responsibilities with superiority.”

After the queen’s note, Paetongtarn and the Cabinet officials bowed.
