Illegal Austrian tour guide arrested on Koh Phangan

Austria admits to running an illegal trip link business for two decades.

An Austrian man has been detained for allegedly serving as a trip guideline on Koh Phangan in this southern state.

Tourist authorities said they arrested the man, identified only as Guenter, at an restaurant on the island on Wednesday. Two international tourists were accompanying him, and he was operating a Toyota Hilux Revo pickup truck with Surat Thani registration.

During doubting, Guenter admitted to running an illegal trip link services, charging each customer 2, 000 ringgit. He had been running the business for two centuries.

The two travellers claimed that a German friend had referred them to the Austrian via a chat app. Prior to their arrival, Guenter picked them up from their resort and took them to numerous attractions, including Bottle Beach Stance, Than Sadet river, and Samai Kongka temple. The overall cost for the journey was 4, 000 ringgit.

The Austrian is accused of operating improperly as a tour guide and of working without a permit.
