Philippines says two new mpox cases are milder variant

MANILA: The Philippines ‘ health ministry announced on Monday ( Aug 26 ) that it had confirmed two additional mild clade 2 mpox virus infections, bringing the total number of active cases to three.

” We continue to discover local transmission of mpox genus 2 here in the Philippines, in Metro Manila in special”, Health Minister Teodoro Herbosa said in a speech.

A 37-year-old man from Metro Manila who was taken to a government clinic last week and a 32-year-old man from the cash who had skin tumors on his brain were the recently confirmed cases.

A 33-year-old man who had no prior travel experience outside of the Philippines announced last week that it had found a case of the milder variant of the mpox virus.

The Philippines has had 12 laboratory-confirmed circumstances since July 2022 with the three scenarios this time.
