At least 27 killed as bus carrying Indian tourists plunges into Nepal river

More than half of the passengers on a bus carrying 43 Indian tourists and crew members died on Friday ( Aug 23 ), according to a Nepali armed police spokesperson, fell into a rain-swollen river in neighboring Nepal.

A total of 27 folks died and 16 were injured in the incident, said spokesperson Shailendra Thapa.

All 41 travellers and two crew members from Pokhara, a holiday destination, were Indians traveling to Kathmandu’s investment.

Driving on small and difficult roads in the mountainous region can be challenging because they frequently make it difficult to maneuver large vehicles around hairpin contours.

Firefighters pulled 22 individuals from the swollen waters of the Marsyangdi valley in the Tanahun region, about 118km from Kathmandu, of whom 12 were seriously injured and airlifted to the money.

At least six people died in doctor, said Thapa.
