1.2 million fake goods destroyed

According to Minister, behavior show a commitment to protecting intellectual property.

Thai authorities on Friday destroyed 1.2 million items of fake goods, demonstrating the government’s determination to crack down on intellectual property ( IP ) infringement, said Phumtham Wechayachai, the acting commerce minister.

Older government officials, ambassadors of many countries, and representatives of international organizations were present at Mr. Phumtham’s presided over the death of the items at the Army Air Defence Command center in Don Muang city of Bangkok.

” We pay attention to preventing academic house infringement”, he said.

The things that were destroyed had a value of more than 325 million ringgit.

Mr. Phumtham stated that the government was working to safeguard intellectual property and that both private and public organizations are working up to combat IP-related business infringement.

He claimed that the government is required to destroy infringing goods using appropriate methods in accordance with an agreement reached with the World Trade Organization to assure investors, businesspeople, and IP owners that the goods wo n’t be brought back to the market.

Mr Phumtham said the counterfeit goods destroyed included attire, watches, bags, electrical equipment, auto parts, treatments, plastic goods, food and drinks.

The officers, the Customs Department, and the Department of Special Investigation conducted the seizures this time.
