Koreans held over call-centre scam

Suspects detained at the Bangkok department created a fictitious website using the name of a significant Korean bank

Eight North Korean immigrants have been detained in Bangkok’s central business district on suspicion of allegedly running a call center con.

The Immigration Bureau’s deputy chief, Pol Maj Gen Phanthana Nutchanart, reported that the suspects, all between the ages of 26 and 31, had been detained on Wednesday evening after receiving a tip about Vietnamese men renting a space in an office building on Ekamai Soi 3, and that they had been detained. &nbsp,

The fourth-floor room bore a sign saying” Content Factory. Korea &amp, Thai”. Outside, authorities found 20 desktop computers, 40 displays, 17 mobile devices and four tablet computers.

The eight suspects were discovered using fake websites to reportedly luring investors into making investments with” Hana Partners Investment Bank.” Hana Financial Group, one of the largest financial services firms in Korea, has numerous companies, but none of them are referred to as Hana Partners Investment Bank.

The suspects claimed they were hired to work in Thailand and used social media to convince people to invest in a false account. If they could get subjects, they were paid a fee.

They were originally charged by police with working without a force in Thailand. The suspects may be subjected to an examination of their computers before the police will decide whether to bring more charges against them.
