Eastern Taiwan rattled by 6.3-magnitude quake, no immediate reports of damage

TAIPEI: A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck 34km off Taiwan’s eastern city of Hualien on Friday ( Aug 16 ), the island’s weather administration said, with no immediate reports of damage.

The collapse shook structures in the funds, Taipei, and had a degree of 9.7km, the wind administration added.

Taiwan is prone to earthquakes because it is close to the collision of two seismic panels.
