Indonesia allows female flag-raising troop members to don hijab at Independence Day ceremony, overturning earlier ban

The National Secretariat clarified a controversy that erupted after they were seen without the attire during their debut present this year. Adult members of Indonesia’s flag-raising troop you wear the hijab at the Independence Day ceremony in the new capital Nusantara on August 17.

Heru Budi Hartono, the secretary’s chief, provided the assurance the public needed after the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency ( BPIP ) had previously admitted to requiring members of the flag-raising troop, known as Paskibraka, to remove their hijabs while on duty.

The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency is a non-ministerial state company tasked with preserving Pancasila, the state philosophy, and its intellectual development and implementation.

Members of the public were critical of the government’s decision to ban hijab use, who complained that all Paskibraka members did not do so during their ceremonial opening ceremony on August 13 ( Aug 13 ).

The Paskibraka, an elite club made up of high school students from all over Indonesia, is responsible for escorting, raising, and lowering the country’s cherished national flag or its equivalent at annual Independence Day rites on August 17th. &nbsp,

According to the Paskibraka students party, there are 18 hijab-wearing people in the current team.

” We asked female ( members of the Paskibraka ) who use ( the ) hijab to continue using it ( while on duty )”, Mr Heru Budi said on Wednesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

He continued,” The Paskibraka people wore their veils during the dress training for the Independence Day festival in Nusantara that night.”

Despite previous Paskibraka troops being permitted to wear the dress while on duty, BPIP seat Yudian Wahyudi before justified his decision to require Paskibraka members to do so in the name of uniformity.

” We must realize that Paskibraka people may be uniform”, Mr Yudian said on Wednesday evening.

He also explained to the army people that only during the flag-raising and induction ceremonies would they be required to remove their hijabs.

According to Mr. Hartono, BPIP failed to notify the National Secretariat when it instructed sexual Paskibraka members to remove their hijabs.

A senior member of the Indonesian Ulema Council ( MUI) expressed shock over the recently overturned rule prohibiting female Paskibraka people from covering themselves in the dress.

In a speech cited by Kumparan, MUI’s deputy president Anwar Abbas said,” We definitely regret this action because it has even insulted the Republic of Indonesia itself,” according to MUI’s deputy president.

” For Arab women, wearing the dress is an act of worship.

So, if someone in this country forbids Muslim women from wearing the dress, that indicates that the person involved has disrespected the Constitution and even insulted the Islamic teachings, he continued.
