To improve Bangkok’s and neighboring provinces ‘ water transportation networks, the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy Planning ( OTP ) intends to invest 8.87 billion baht.
The Cabinet and the Office of National Economic and Social Development Council have reviewed the ocean carry development program, according to Panya Chupanich, the director-general of OTPs.
In order to encourage boating in Bangkok and other nearby provinces, the company will put more canal routes totaling 112 kilometers under the proposed plan for 2024-2032.
During the first stage from 2024-2027, four waterway pathways covering 52.6km may be added.
The S1 course is a 25-km Sai Mai-Phra Khanong expand on the Lat Phrao river with 23 bridges. City Hall and the Marine Department will take on the job.
The S2 way is a 6.8-km extend along the Saen Saep river from Wat Si Boonruang to Wat Bampennua, with 13 bridges along the way. It is an expansion of Family Transport Co.’s existing 17.2-kilometer way.
S3 runs along the Bangkok Noi river from Pratu Nam Chimphli to Siriraj Hospital, covering 17.1km with 18 piers.
Along the Prem Prachakon Canal, the S4 way connects the Bang Sue neighborhood and the PTT area, which has seven piers. It travels a range of 6. 6 kilometers. The route’s intended purpose is probably to be a touristic more than commutative one.
As for the next period from 2028-2032, the three new pathways may be developed, covering 56.7 kilometres.
The L1 way, with a range of 13.7km and 13 bridges, will be an expansion of the S4 path linking the PTT Park to Wat Rangsit.
L2 may extend for 15 miles along the Chao Phraya River from Nonthaburi’s Pak Kret Pier to Pathum Thani’s Muang District, consisting of three bridges.
L3 runs from Wat Chaiyakhruekmala to Pratu Nam Maha Sawat, covering 28 metres with 13 bridges.
According to Mr. Panya, the project will cost about 8.87 billion baht overall, of which 1.3 billion will be used to enhance different services.
